Today marks my last full day and night in California, and although the trail is positively pulsing with excitement at the prospect of reaching Oregon, it would be impossible to forget the nearly endless string of beauty that has been on display as we've followed these first 1700 miles. Aside from producing my beautiful wife, which is reason enough to sing its praises, California is one long highlight reel of stunning scenery. From its southern deserts to the High Sierra, and from its northern volcanoes to its forests of soaring trees, the trail has traversed some of the country's most stunning landscapes. Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Lassen Volcanic national parks—a relentless procession of and masterclass in the grandeur of nature. Reaching this point, it's hard not to feel that I've been fortunate enough to have seen more of California in these past 3 months than most people will in their lifetimes. Oregon and Washington have a tough act to follow.
